This is just a cute story from my childhood.
As a kid
starting school I heard my classmates talking about their “Dad” doing this or
saying that. At first I would nod and pretend I knew what they were talking
about but one day I decided to get to the bottom of things. So I asked my
teacher, “What’s a Dad?” She looked
down at me surprised then said, “What are you talking about? Your Dad is your
father. He came to parent teacher conferences.” I connected the dots and came
to the realization, “Oh, you mean Papa?” My teacher then laughed and nodded.
While growing
up, my brothers and I were raised calling our father, “Papa”. So in my little
world I had a Papa and a Mom and I did not know what a “Dad” was. I still to
this day call him Papa and find it weird to say Dad.
